What Is Raw Food Living?

Think heavenly hues: sunset oranges, cherry reds, sunburst yellows, plump purples, and gorgeous greens!

Raw Living is all about enjoying a vast array of vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds that are protein and amino acid rich, bountiful in color, water packed, crunchy and will deliver more vitamins, minerals and nutrients…making your new raw body radiantly glow!

EVERYTHING in our Universe is energy and nothing ever remains standing still because energy is always moving! From the chair you are sitting on, to the books you read, to the foods you choose to put into your gorgeous body—all of them are emitting energy! So knowing this incredibly wonderful fact can help you see how vital it is to your health and well-being to be consuming foods that are in their raw energy-filled state.

This means choosing foods that are still ALIVE and working towards omitting foods that have been cooked above 115 degrees. Did you know that cooked foods lose their life force making your meal void of most vital nutrients? Also, there is a toxicity factor that arises from eating cooked foods, not to mention the digestion problems that most Americans face and the diseases that are running rampant in our society because of how we are feeding our already acidic bodies!

Food is just like every other thing on this planet, it is either in a process of growing or dying. Simply put, living foods are those foods that are still alive when you purchase them from the grocery store or your farmers market or even while your living foods are simply sitting on your table. The raw lifestyle encompasses no meat, dairy, fish or eggs. The result = one healthy Raw Body!

It creates an energy, an abundance and a creativity within and it has the potential to add years to your life! If you look around the world today, some of the longest living people are from areas where nature is their first source of food.

Take a look at the people of Okinawa, Japan! They are recognized as having more people in their culture living beyond 100 years because of two glorious reasons! Number one, they are noted for living off the "The Rainbow Diet,"...you guessed it, vegetables and fruits that match the colors of the rainbow! How beautiful! Number two, they live by another standard that is referred to as 'hara hachi bu,' translating to "eat until you are only 80% full!" Brilliant! Eat less, age less, is another key to looking radiant as you go through your Raw Body Makeover.

By eating predominately raw you will be achieving an alkaline based body! The healthiest body is a body that is alkaline based. Disease thrives in an acidic environment. The solution: Eat raw alkaline foods that make up at least 75% of your diet and choose only a small portion of acidic foods to make up the other 25%.

You will be choosing foods free from all of the 'bad stuff'! We mean, you will be choosing organic produce and eating organic food! Before we began our raw journey choosing organic was not even on our radar! So going raw brings with it a wealth of information and makes you aware! Once you are aware it is hard to turn back to what you knew before.

Choosing organic means you are getting no artificial fertilizers, no pesticides, no human waste or sewage sludge on your foods! In fact, you may have even heard of the "dirty dozen." The "dirty dozen" refers to the top 12 foods that you should avoid unless they are absolutely USDA Certified Organic. It includes peaches (these little guys have been known to take the prize when it comes to the most pesticide covered food), apples, bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, imported grapes, pears, spinach and potatoes, and raspberries take a close runner-up!

This was one of the most liberating moments of our raw food journey…when we realized that there are literally thousands of recipes out there converting your so called 'comfort foods' into the most delicious LIVING RAW FOOD recipes!

There is a recipe for everything, and YES, we mean everything! The other day we just found a raw recipe for an entire Thanksgiving dinner! Mashed potatoes, apple pie and "turkey" included! Your raw menu is so much more than just a celery stick and a salad everyday.

We approached our own personal raw journey with baby steps and our hope is that you know that you can do the same. We feel that going at your own pace will not only bring you much joy, peace and comfort but that it will deliver results for you as well... Just magine how you will feel after your Raw Body Makeover.

It's really interesting the stages that we went through and that you will possibly be experiencing. In the beginning it was a very big step to upgrade from driving through a fast food restaurant to actually walking into a grocery store and going to the salad bar. By the way, the salad bar at your local grocery store may not be the best choice for your raw food diet. At least for us in the beginning our salads looked more like a party on a plate with all of the choices a salad bar contains! Nowadays, our salads are very simple and are usually just fresh, organic vegetables.

It is a process!

The first rule of thumb that we followed on our own personal Raw Body Makeovers was to give up what we craved the most, and for us, it was BREAD! Next it was giving up meat (not that we ever craved meat by any means), but we were one of those that thought we needed our protein. Last, but not least, we released dairy and all forms of it: eggs, cheese, and ice-cream!

BUT wait…here's the good part!

Remember the raw alternatives? What if you knew you could still have all of these delicious fancies of yours and still be radiating health all at the same time! YOU CAN! How does raw macaroni and cheese, guacamole, ice-cream, and ranch dressing sound? What about still being able to enjoy your weekend favorites…pancakes, romaine roll-ups, raw pizza, "chicken nuggets" with bbq sauce and more?!

By owning a dehydrator you can make your own bread, chips, crackers and cheese. There are recipes to make your own nut milk and you will learn of the creamy alternatives for sale in your natural grocery stores such as Hemp milk, Almond milk or Rice milk just to name a few.

Of course, in the beginning stages of your raw food journey having a good blender, some sharp knives and a cutting board is all that is needed to make most of your recipes!

How will you know when it is time for you to invest beyond the standard kitchen equipment to make the above raw recipes? If your anything like us, you will probably come to a place along your journey where you may grow tired of eating the same foods or you may want to expand on what you have tried so far. Although we always keep it simple, having a dehydrator will open your eyes to a whole new world and a whole new level of eating! You will just know!
